With the exception of some -statistically expected- cases of insolvency of insurance companies, the Greek insurance market is characterized by a post-war relative stability. Also in this area, of course, the state's increasing lag in the provision of health services results in the penetration of large private capital into the health market and therefore the need for (private) health insurance. The fact is that private health insurance is called upon to fill the large gaps left by social security. On the other hand, however, it is called upon to comply with strict capital adequacy and solvency rules. Therefore, costs are steadily rising for all market players. The sources of problems between insurance companies and their customers are sought on one hand in the amount of the premiums concerned and the way in which they (premiums) are adjusted, and on the other hand in the control of validity, the interpretation and application of general insurance conditions (e.g. insurance burdens), which in some cases have not been adapted in the recent requests for transparency and reasonable adjustment. We have handled cases on both sides of the insurance contract (insurers – insured) and have a considerable experience both in the formulation of contractual terms and in the out-of-court and judicial handling of relevant disputes.
